Manali – Solang Nala / Brigu Lake Trek

The trekkers Paradise, is a Hill station, nestled in the Mountains of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, on the banks of river Beas, near the northern end of the Kullu valley, at an altitude of 6,726 ft. Nature has extended its wings over Snow Covered Peaks, Apple Orchards, Sky Touching Pine Trees, Waterfalls and Hermitages.

The Hidimba Devi temple is built around a cave where Hidimba performed meditation. The temple is surrounded by a cedar forest at the foot of the Himālayas. The sanctuary is built over a huge rock jutting out of the ground which was worshipped as an image of the deity.

Manu Temple is a small stone structure with a statue of Manu the first man and a few musical instruments inside.

Manali is named after the lawgiver Manu – The first man. Legend has it that sage Manu stepped off his ark in Manali to recreate human life after a great flood had deluged the world. Manali is also often referred to as the “Valley of the Gods”. The Old Manali village has an ancient temple dedicated to sage Manu.

Vashisht Temple Hot Springs

Vashisht hot springs is a place worth visiting for experiencing a hot spring bath. The place is not very aesthetically appealing and if you haven’t had the whiff of sulphur earlier you might find the odour nauseating however a dip in the hotspring water is worth the effort. There are separate enclosures for men and women.

Solang Nala (Valley) drives its name from combination of words Solang (Nearby village) and Nullah (water stream). 14 km northwest of Manali on the way to Rohtang Pass, and is known for its summer and winter sport conditions. The sports most commonly offered are parachuting, paragliding, skating and zorbing.

Rohtang Pass is a high altitude mountain pass (13,050 ft) on the eastern Pir Panjal Range of the Himalayas. It connects the Kullu Valley with the Lahaul and Spiti Valleys of Himachal Pradesh, a part of NH 21.

Tentative Itinerary

  • Day 1:- Departure from Ahmedabad by train.
  • Day 2:- Arrival at Delhi, departure for Manali by bus.
  • Day 3:- Arrival at Manali in the morning, tent allotment, introduction to camp. Local sightseeing and town visit in evening.
  • Day 4 – 5:- Various treks, sightseeing, camp activities.
    • Visit to Jogini falls and Vashishth Temple Hot Water Springs.
  • Day 6:- Trek to top camp.
  • Day 7:- Trek to Brigu Lake (14,200 ft).
  • Day 8:- Trek to Panduropa.
  • Day 9:- Departure from Manali by bus after lunch.
  • Day 10:- Arrival at Delhi, departure for Ahmedabad by train.
  • Day 11:- Arrival at Ahmedabad in the morning.
